Atari has opened preorders for a new physical cartridge compatible with its iconic 2600 console. Yes, you read it correctly. In 2023, a console that peaked in 1982 is launching a fresh game titled "Save Mary." This game, conceived during the 2600's golden era, was shelved when the console faded into obsolescence. Atari veteran Tod Frye, known for Pac-Man and the Swordquest series on the 2600, originally crafted the game.

Two years back, archaeologists claimed to have unearthed ancient human footprints in New Mexico, dating between 23,000 to 20,000 years old. Skepticism lingered, but recent research supports this assertion, shedding light on human presence in North America during the Ice Age. The researchers revisited the site, employing a new study to determine the age of terrestrial pollen alongside Ruppia seeds. Confirming the initial claim, and pinpointing the human footprints to have trodden the ground approximately 23,000 to 22,000 years ago.
The IWC has released an extinction alert for a the Vaquita, who they estimate have a mere 10 remaining in Mexico's Gulf of California. This is The International Whaling Commission’s (IWC) first time issuing such an emergency in its 70-year history. Vaquita measure 1.2 to 1.5 meters, exclusively inhabit Mexico's Gulf of California, with their population dwindling from 30 in 2017 to a critical 10. The peril stems from gillnet use by fishers, targeting totoaba fish for the illicit traditional Chinese medicine market. Immediate intervention is imperative.

Enacted during the 2023 legislative session, this law aligns with a slew of others becoming operational this week.
